Mick Fealty New media, politics and digital engagement

What I do

fealty.net pulls together thoughts, links and discussions of how new media forms continuously disrupt mainstream knowledge production, and in the process construct (and deconstruct) vibrant online communities.

It’s run by Mick Fealty, a visiting research associate at Queens University, Belfast who specialises in New Media and Politics. He is also the award winning blogger behind Slugger O’Toole, and writes on Irish and British politics for the Guardian’s Comment is Free blog.

He helped River Path develop its cutting edge Opinion Former Audit. Currently working with Policy Unplugged, he facilitates participatory events that parallel the social networking technologies that make online media so compelling.

In addition, Mick:

  • gives strategic counsel to organisations who understand the need to engage in conversations with their customers/stakeholders
  • provides one to one tutorials to anxious senior executives, politicians and civil servants eager to find their feet in an increasingly insecure media marketplace.
  • is researching the impacts of blogging and other online technologies on real time politics.
  • has written for the Financial Times, the Guardian, the Observer and the Irish Times.
